Some may look at upcoming games like The War Z and say 'Oh, another bland zombie game' and, honestly, no one would really blame you for it. Zombie-filled games have become so popular they're now a genre on their own. The War Z is an upcoming game that we've been keeping our eye on closely, as it seems to be taking a unique approach to the zombie genre.

Simply put, The War Z is zombie themed MMO that will be coming to PC in the Fall. With a constant flow of wannabe MMOs hitting the market monthly (not to mention the upcoming DayZ game) it would seem a difficult task for a game like The War Z to thrive or even stay afloat but we have faith in Hammerpoint Interactive. What makes The War Z so different from most MMOs is the ability for even low end computer owners to play. Oh, and there's also that little thing about there being absolutely no subscription fees and that all the future DLCs and expansions will all be 100% free of charge as well. Nothing big...

As if the game hadn't impressed us enough already, it has just been revealed that The War Z will apparently be able to support hundreds of zombies on screen without any significant lag. Hammerpoint Interactive PR and marketing representative Alex Josef made the statement recently in an interview with Gaming Blend and it's had us itching to get our hands on the soon-to-be released beta.

We're able to display around a couple hundred zombies on screen without significant slowdown, but, to be honest I don't think that you'll ever encounter a situation like this. Usually depending on the size of the town you can expect to encounter between 10 to 100 zombies per settlement, which still can be a pretty significant number. -Alex Josef, PR (Hammerpoint)

Basically what this means is that, although Hammerpoint doesn't plan on having areas with hundreds of zombies on screen at one point, we'll still be seeing some sizable zombie hordes throughout our adventures. Just knowing the capabilities are there makes us wonder what sort of future expansions we could be seeing if The War Z does manage to thrive and grow after it's release.
