One of the most spectacular, dead on balls accurate spoof films of the last twenty years has to be 2009's Black Dynamite. The film was both a loving homage and a savage takedown of the low-budget, poorly acted Blaxploitation films of the 70s like Dolemite and anything starring Fred Williamson. It even spawned an Adult Swim animated follow-up that I never watched a single second of, but heard plenty of good things about.

Now, star and co-writer of the original, Michael Jai White, is teasing a follow-up with this teaser trailer he posted on Twitter. While the first film was a send-up of inner city based Blaxploitation films, this one is gonna be a parody of the Blaxploitation westerns like Buck and the Preacher, Soul Soldier, and lots of movies with the N-word in the title I won't mention here. In fact, according to Coming Soon, White himself teased the set-up for the film in an interview six years ago...

“We had discussed,” said White previously, “and it looks like we’re getting closer to the decision of something that would be an homage to ‘Blazing Saddles.’ It’s a western comedy in that spirit of ‘Blazing Saddles,’ but you mix that with ‘Buck and the Preacher.'”

So yeah, it goes without saying that this has skyrocketed to the top of my must see list for 2018. I cannot wait to see what they do this time around and I know a lot of you feel the same. We'll keep you posted with the latest info as we get it, but look for the film to be released later this year.
