MLS has grown exponentially over the last few years ever since the arrival of a certain Mr Beckham. New York Red Bull's signing of Thierry Henry has also helped the sport to grow, and now a new footballing god has arrived to join the league.

Alessandro Nesta has decided to join the soccer revolution, however he'll be situated just a little further north this time, plying his trade for the Montreal Impact.

Nesta parted ways with AC Milan at the end of last season and his vast catalogue of trophies includes two Champions League and two Serie A titles with the Rossoneri, as well as also collecting the World Cup with Italy in 2006 who he played 78 matches for. Not too shabby a career then.

On Thursday Nesta stated that, "I'm very happy to be here. Despite some offers to continue with my career in Europe, I was looking for a new challenge and wanted to play in MLS." The defender will now link up with his former Lazio team mate Marco Di Vaio in Montreal and he will look to change the fortunes of the struggling Canadian club.
