Woody Harrelson is one of our most versatile actors. Anyone who doubts this should sit down and double feature Kingpin and The People vs Larry Flynt, both released in 1996 and both fantastic performances that couldn't be more dissimilar. However, even I, one of Woody's biggest fans, have my doubts about his latest role playing our 36th President, Lyndon Baines Johnson, in the upcoming biopic LBJ.

Perhaps some of these reservations stem from the fact that it's being directed by Rob Reiner, who hasn't made a good movie since I was in high school (that would be The American President for those of you keeping score at home). Anytime he attempts to do a "prestige movie," it all goes horribly awry. Couple this with the fact that the movie is 98 minutes—never a good sign for a movie looking to be taken seriously by awards ceremonies—and it just seems like one big miscalculation.

Honestly, the only thing that would get me in the theater are Woody and Jennifer Jason Leigh as the Johnsons. Granted they both look like they're in an SNL sketch, but I'd sooner watch good actors in a bad movie than vice versa. LBJ hits theaters in the midst of awards season, on November 3.
