With our cynical hats on, we could bitch that World War II shooters aren't the most innovative of games. Angry Nazis, like angry zombies (or, in some extreme cases, angry Nazi zombies), have been done. Repeatedly and definitively done.

But how about a slightly more crazy-ass idea? For instance, resuming the story in the Sixties, in a parallel world where the Nazis were victorious and a hero from the past awakens to join the resistance against them? That'd be all gritty and shiny new and a little Twilight Zone-y (for video games, at least), and we'd definitely be on board.

Well, hold on to your balls, because that's just what MachineGames is bringing us with Wolfenstein: The New Order. Our ol' buddy B.J Blakzowicz is back, and he's facing all manner of fancy Teutonic death-bots. It's a shootin', stabbin', stranglin' good time, and the kind of brash, balls-out shooter that always demands attention.

The game released yesterday, and the launch trailer above will bring you right up to speed.
