Top seeded Maria Sharapova was knocked out of Wimbledon today in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3 by Sabine Lisicki. Sharapova had been 3-0 against the German, including a win over her in last year's Wimbledon semi-finals.
Sharapova was a huge favorite to win Wimbledon coming in, having won the French Open last month to finish off the career grand slam.
Sharapova was trying to become the first female to win Wimbledon and the French Open in the same year since Serena Williams last did it in 2002.
