Julian Assange's Wikileaks organization has been creating all kinds of ruckus over the last few years, particularly over the last month or so. But among all the stuff about Clinton's emails and whatnot is a series of documents from the late 70's that show that the United Nations is particularly concerned with the rise in UFO related phenomenon. It seems that in 1978 there was a great deal of UFO activity around the island nation of Grenada. The U.N. sprung to action, (as much as they actually spring for anything), and created a committee to study UFOs. They were concerned that if aliens really were coming down to Earth that we be ready for them, one way or another. A memo reads,
"The General Assembly invites interested member states to take appropriate steps to coordinate on a national level scientific research and investigation into extraterrestrial life, including unidentified flying objects, and to inform the secretary-general of the observations, research and evaluation of such activities."
It's hard to say what came of any of this. The U.N. is slower than my grandmother at the supermarket. That's the problem with them. What's going to happen if the aliens do show up? Are they going to go in their robin's egg blue berets and control the situation? Chances are they are coming to blow us up like in Independence Day. We need Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum to take them out.
