When ‘Doom’ Met ‘Aliens’

Doom, as all you Ego-dudes know, is one of the most popular and influential PC titles of all time. The tale of the lone space marine against the hordes of hell practically invented the FPS genre, and was promptly ripped off by all kinds of unscrupulous bastards. Y'know, like Mario Kart did; everyone from Sonic the Hedgehog to the Crazy effing Frog jumped on the bandwagon and had their own kart racer.

Anywho, back to Doom. You can't gain that kind of notoriety on the PC platform without being modded-amundo. Some mod highlights over the years have included Brutal Doom, a super-hyper-mega gory take on the game, and that weirdness that added selfie sticks for the player to take shots of Doomguy (I guess it'd liven up Instagram, ‘Just wanged a Cacodemon in the scrote with the BFG! Won't get that blood out of my spacesuit for months! #yoloswag').

But that's the thing. Did Doom need freaking selfie sticks? It did not. Over-enthusiastic PC modders have done all kinds of batshit things, but sometimes it's nice to make changes that feel just right. Like a Doom/Alien crossover. Feast your eyes on this.

An Alien mod has been done before, as Kotaku reports, but here comes Kontra Kommando with a spangly new one. This guy knows his stuff, having previously worked on a Terminator mod for the game, and this one's looking suitably sweet too. Here's an ogle at the map he's working on:
