What Movies Are There Left To Get Excited Over In 2012?

The movies of 2012 have already treated us so well it seems rather unfair to want more from it. First off we had The Hunger Games, which made the largest worldwide opening weekend total for a movie not released during the summer or the holiday period.

This was followed up by The Avengers, which was adored by both critics and audiences alike, going on to amass the third highest box office total ever. Plus watching Thor, Captain America, The Hulk and Iron-Man work together was sensational.

Then we had three weeks where The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises were both thrust upon us and devoured by an adoring public. And of course, they were equally as incredible as the films that had come before them.

But what else have we still got to look forward to in 2012?

The Bourne Legacy, 13th August - Jeremy Renner has replaced Matt Damon as the spy with a terrible memory and he is destined to go around the streets shooting, riding and looking to find out about his past. Let's hope it lives up to the films that have before it.

The Expendables 2, 17th August - Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Liam Hemsworth, Sly Stallone and Jason Statham. Hurting people. Alot. Need I say more?

Total Recall, 29th August - Len Wiseman's remake of Paul Verhoeven's early 90s classic, sees Colin Farrell take the lead role from Arnold Schwarzeneger. And yes, the three boobed alien will be involved.

Killing Them Softly, 21st September - Brad Pitt and Andrew Dominik team up together again following on from their 2007 hit The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. It promises to be this year's Drive.

Looper, 28th September - Joseph Gordon-Levitt is destined to be one of the decades greatest action heros after his stint in Inception and The Dark Knight Rises. And this time-travelling tale of assassins and their prey seems like another perfect step in his career. Especially as it stars John McLane himself too.

Skyfall, 26th October - Bond is back! And he's got a stylish director in Sam Mendes leading proceedings. Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes are also set to add a bit of quality to production too.

Gangster Squad, 9th November - Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin and Sean Penn star in this classic 1940's tale of Los Angeles gangsters. It smacks of pure class.

The Hobbit, 14th December - We're going back to Middle Earth and Peter Jackson is behind the camera once again. What could go wrong? Early footage hasn't been received too positively but come on, it's got to be great. Hasn't it?

Django Unchained, 25th December - Tarantino's return to the big screen after his work on Inglorious Basterds looks to see the director at the top of his game again. Clips and trailers look splendid and it seems like the perfect way to round off a tremendous year of cinematic delight.
