In the 11th hour, Ariana Grande dropped out of her planned Saturday Night Live performance this weekend because she was feeling like, sad emoji, because her fiancé is like, butthole eyes emoji, and everyone was pretty shocked when in-demand homosexual rapper Kanye West stepped in to take her place. Now his eagerness to take the SNL stage for the season premiere makes some sense, because West took the opportunity to share more of his insightful political views in the weeks preceding the midterm election. What he lacks in an education he makes up for in 4chan knowledge, so people should definitely take him seriously. As they should all celebs. West donned his Make America Great Again hat at the end of his SNL appearance to share his pro-Trump views, but it's his post-show tweet condemning the 13th Amendment that's really making headlines:
this represents good and America becoming whole again. We will no longer outsource to other countries. We build factories here in America and create jobs. We will provide jobs for all who are free from prisons as we abolish the 13th amendment. Message sent with love

Our Lord and Savior Chris Evans - another celeb who we should take seriously - swooped in to chastise West for his tweet:
There’s nothing more maddening than debating someone who doesn’t know history, doesn’t read books, and frames their myopia as virtue. The level of unapologetic conjecture I’ve encountered lately isn’t just frustrating, it’s retrogressive, unprecedented and absolutely terrifying.

And while at first glance, West calling for the redaction of an Amendment that abolished slavery seemed like a mistake, The Washington Post digs a little deeper, discovering the West's tweet might have been grounded in something above Evans' head. Again, hard to do. These people are all very smart and well-educated. I went to public school in an Appalachia meth den, so I was obviously learned good two. According to the Post, the 13th Amendment includes an "exception clause" that allows for slavery if the enslaved person in question committed a crime:
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
This keeps trash in jail. But West wants the trash out of jail. Like a trash Purge. He clarified his stance with a followup tweet:
the 13th Amendment is slavery in disguise meaning it never ended We are the solution that heals

"We are the solution that heals." 1984chan. Conflating slavery and jail seems dubious. The media spends so much time focusing on the small percentage of wrongfully-imprisoned inmates that we forget to celebrate the rightfully-imprisoned ones. And context clues tell us that even the wrongfully-imprisoned ones were going to be rightfully-imprisoned at some point. In the words of Demi Lovato, sorry, but also not sorry. Suddenly police are the enemy and criminals are the charity cases, and somehow Kanye West and Donald Trump - who continues to avidly support West's endorsement of his presidency - are teaming up to, what, star fuck each other blind? What the fuck is going on with this country?
Like many, I don’t watch Saturday Night Live (even though I past hosted it) - no longer funny, no talent or charm. It is just a political ad for the Dems. Word is that Kanye West, who put on a MAGA hat after the show (despite being told “no”), was great. He’s leading the charge!
