Adam Driver, the actor who plays the weird, often shirtless dude on Girls, is J.J. Abrams' first choice to play the villain in Star Wars Episode VII, at least according to Variety.

The publication is claiming that Driver beat out Michael Fassbender and Hugo Weaving for the role which is "in the vein of iconic Star Wars villain Darth Vader." However, while Driver is said to Abrams first choice, finalizing the deal was postponed due to scheduling conflicts with HBO. But now that those conflicts have supposedly been resolved, it's just a matter of getting Driver to sign on the dotted line.

Other cast members are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, and shooting is set to begin in London this April. The film itself is set for release on December 18, 2015. (Source)
