"Who loves ya baby?"

If Vin Diesel gets his way, the answer will be Ang Lee.

The star recently dropped Lee's name when asked who he would like to direct the upcoming Kojak remake, a project Diesel signed on to last year. For those of you who aren't old enough to remember what a "Kojak" is, it's a mediocre 1970's detective series starring Telly Savalas as a cop who really likes lollipops. Sound exciting? It's not.

Vin Diesel was the natural choice for the remake because like Savalas, he's bald. And Academy Award winner Ang Lee would be the natural choice to direct because... actually, I have no idea why Ang Lee would get involved. Granted, Diesel's wishing won't make it so, and there's no official word that Lee is interested, so maybe it's just a pipe dream. But while the project currently seems like another desperate attempt by to avoid original content, Lee's involvement would certainly change that perception. And unlike other planned remakes (i.e. Road House), it's not like Kojak is that iconic to begin with, so expectations will certainly be manageable.

Who knows? Maybe it won't suck.
