Viggo Mortensen is the in the hunt for an Oscar again this year thanks to his much ballyhooed performance in Green Book, which means it's a great time to ask him about something Lord of the Rings related that's still several years away. As you may know, Amazon is pouring a fortune into creating a Lord of the Rings adaptation to rival HBO's Game of Thrones, which means that everyone involved with the most recent Tolkein adaptation is going to have to suffer endless questions about the reboot.
While speaking with Collider about Green Room, Mortensen did offer some advice to whomever the actor is that follows him into the role of Aragorn, and the key is to get your hands on some truly obscure books...
“I would say, not only read the book, you know, very thoroughly, that giant book of Lord of the Rings, but you could read some of the Nordic sagas. You’ll get some clues there as to where Tolkien got his information. Like, Sigurd the Dragon Slayer, and the Volsunga saga. Read that."
Good luck getting a Millennial to read anything, amirite? I kid you Millennials, only because you can take a joke so well. Anywho, that's all great stuff that you've now obliged this poor, hypothetical soul to read, Viggo. God bless him, though. Viggo's one bad mother, and if you disagree, I will fight you.
