The first half of the first round of the U.S. Open is over, and Tiger Woods is currently tied for third place at one under par, three shots off the pace of the leader Michael Thompson. Thompson shot a blistering four under for his round.
Tiger, playing in the featured group of the day, blew away his playing partners, Phil Mickelson and Masters champ Bubba Watson. Phil showed signs of getting it together, only to watch it come back apart all day. Mickelson ended his day at 6 over, 76, while Watson finished with a 78.
Defending champ Rory McIlroy just started his round at 1:48pm San Francisco time and is one over par after two holes.
