If you were holding your breath for yet another cover of Simon & Garfunkel's "Hazy Shade of Winter," have I got great news for you! The pop classic written by Simon and made famous again twenty-some years later by The Bangles, was featured in the second season of Stranger Things, and is now at the centerpiece of the trailer for their new series The Umbrella Academy.
The series is based on the Dark Horse comics series created by My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way in which a group of over 40 children is born on the same day to mothers who weren't pregnant when that day began. A wealthy entrepreneur/scientist—who's actually an alien, spoiler alert—adopts several of the children and exploits their extraordinary abilities as part of a superhero team.
Several years later, the teens are now in their early twenties, all of them having squandered their potential, reunited by the death of their benefactor to give this whole "saving the world" thing another go. The show stars Oscar nominee Ellen Page, as well as some other familiar faces. Netflix certainly isn't skimping on the production budget as you can tell from this action packed trailer, but truth be told, they had me at the talking monkey.
The complete first season of The Umbrella Academy drops on Netflix on February 15.
