When I was in film school my friends and I were obsessed by a film that has since gone on to legendary stature. I'm not talking about Citizen Kane or Truffaut's 400 Blows. I am, of course, talking about Tommy Wiseau's 2003 classic The Room. The tale of a weird European guy coming unglued in New York is the ultimate cult classic. It defines the "it's so bad it's good" criterion for film. The musical Hamilton, by contrast has been universally hailed as a masterpiece. I haven't seen it, (because I don't have $500 for a ticket on Stubhub), but I've heard the soundtrack and it is excellent. Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda is like Wiseau in the sense that both have a singular vision that defined their careers. What if you could combine these two works of art into one wacky hybrid.
That's where video creators Jeremy Fassler and Zach Spound come in with this amazing short "Oh Hi Hamilton". It's The Room musical you never knew you needed.
