Tiger, birdies and eagles, oh my! Tiger Woods' final round 62 in the PGA Tour's Honda Classic should be a scary reminder to the rest of the PGA that he's far from finished. Woods still hasn't won an official event since September of '09, or a major since June of '08, but that could change very quickly.
The Masters is less than a month away, and Tiger will play in at least two more tournaments fine tuning for Augusta. The way his game is looking right now means that he has to be considered as one of the favorites heading into the season's first major. The old Tiger was back in form in the final round of the Honda, with long birdie putts, two eagles and a career final round low of 62.
22-year-old Irishman Rory McIlroy is the world's new number one ranked player after winning the Honda Classic. The only person to reach number one at a younger age is Woods, back in 1997. McIlroy has finished in the top five in every tournament, except one, that he's played since last summer, when he won the U.S. Open.
Rory and Tiger finished first and second respectively, but weren't playing in the same group. It would be an amazing matchup to see Woods and McIlroy paired up on Sunday in Augusta, and the way the two of them are playing right now, it might just happen.
