I was so sad when I learned that Woody Harrelson didn't smoke weed anymore only because it killed any hope I ever had to share a joint with him.

But I digress. The incredibly versatile, Oscar nominated Harrelson has made his way into a ton of franchises over the last few years. First it was Hunger Games, then Now You See Me, followed by Planet of the Apes, Star Wars, and now Venom, which kinda sorta brings him into the Marvel Universe, I guess, depending upon how this all shakes out.

Anyway, there's a rumor making the rounds that Harrelson's character in the upcoming Tom Hardy vehicle is a key part of Spider-Man and Venom lore that ensures he'll be around for a long time to come. Theoretically.

Bleeding Cool has seemingly confirmed a long-standing rumor that Carnage is going to be the villain in the upcoming Venom, and Harrelson is indeed playing Cletus Kasady, the serial killer turned big red spider-monster-thing.

First of all, this is a natural fit as Woody is perfectly cast as a guy named Cletus. I look at Woody Harrelson and I think, sure I buy him as a Cletus, and honestly you can't say that about many actors.

This is what I'm talking about. Woody Harrelson is versatile as hell. You name me another actor who could've done The People vs. Larry Flynt and Kingpin in the same year. You can't do it, he's amazing. And thanks to this news, I might consider myself curious to see Venom in October.
