Japanese director Takashi Miike wowed audiences when he came out with acclaimed movies Audition, Ichi The Killer, and 13 Assasins. Aside from pretty prolific storylines, Miike ties everything neatly and manages to throw in killer action sequences and daring stunts.
The director is at it again with Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai. The film opens with a mysterious samurai, asking for an honorable death at his feudal lord's house. He is threatened by the feudal lord, who tells the tale of another man who had asked for the same thing years ago. Undaunted, the samurai moves forward with his request--telling his own tale and showing off the skill he possessed right at the very end.
