Michael Garcia - October 2, 2012

For the second time in the first four weeks, the San Francisco 49ers are the Road Warriors of the Week. It was a tough call because there were other solid road wins, but when you travel clear across the country, play the early game and then smoke the home team 34-0, you're getting your due.

Ryan Tannehill of the Dolphins made a case for rookie of the week by throwing for 431 yards on the road and nearly leading an upset in Arizona, but Robert Griffin III racked up a ton of yards and actually led his team to a tough road win.

I'm going to go ahead and welcome Chris Johnson of the Titans back to the NFL. Everyone, including me, has been just bashing the guy for his first three weeks of suckitude. I'll even eat some crow for saying it was time to bench him, but Johnson had a season high 141 yards on 25 carries. The Titans still got smoked, but at least fantasy owners got some points out of Johnson.

Speaking of fantasy, if you took my advice and played Detroit running back Mike Lehoure, sorry about that. He looked like a rookie after having a breakout performance last week. Mike had 26 yards on 13 carries, and 14 of those yards came on one play. Ouch. And what's up with the Lions? I predicted that they'd miss the playoffs after making them last year, but they are flaming out quicker than expected. And the Vikings are 3-1 now, meaning they've already tied last year's win total.

I said to bench Alex Smith of the Niners (good call), and play Tom Brady (good call). I said not to play the Bills defense too. The Patriots scored six straight TDs in the second half of that game. Ouch.

I suggested starting Green Bay WR Greg Jennings, and he made me look like a damn fool. One catch for 9 yards on a day where the QBs combined for 765 yards? Yikes.

As far as the picks this week, I got back on track after being awful in the first three. With tonight's game still to come, I'm 4-1 on the week. The loss was from taking the Giants over the Eagles. Even with two attempts, Lawrence Tynes couldn't get that game winner through the uprights.
