It's been two and a half months since the last movie starring The Rock Johnson, which seems like an eternity, but thankfully the drought ends when Skyscraper hits theaters next weekend. Skyscraper—the new action thriller from the director of Dodgeball and We're the Millers—looks like a mash-up of The Towering Inferno, Die Hard, and blunt force head trauma.
I kid The Rock Johnson, of course. He's one of those guys like Tom Cruise that just works so damn hard to make a promote these movies that you can't help but like him. Outside of Jumanji, I can't remember the last movie of his I actually wanted to see, but I feel like anyone wanting to see this is going to get out of it exactly what they need.
The only sad thing to report is that once this opens, we're gonna have to wait until March before the next film starring The Rock Johnson hits theaters. That's completely bonkers. I don't think we've ever had to wait more than four months for another The Rock Johnson movie, but I guess we're all going to have to just patiently wait this one out. Skyscraper opens in theaters everywhere next Friday, July 13.
