Thankfully the second season of Netflix and Marvel's The Punisher was in the can when Netflix started pulling the plug on some of its Marvel properties, as it's likely the only thing that spared him from getting the axe. Well, Jon Bernthal's back as Frank Castle for what is likely one last go-around, and they appear to be pulling out the stops.
The first season of the series ended with Castle leaving his life of Punishing behind for a more normal life, but as the saying goes, he may be through with the past, but the past ain't through with him. The past, in this particular case, would be Ben Barnes' Billy Russo, whom Castle left for dead after carving up his face in season 1.
While Barnes has denied that he's playing "Jigsaw" in the show this season, there's no way for him to deny that whatever character he is playing shares an awful lot of DNA with The Punisher's main comic book nemesis.
Get ready for one last ride with everyone's favorite vigilante before he rides off into the sunset—for now, at least—beginning one week from tomorrow, on January 18. This is also the same day that Netflix's IO debuts, so, you know, choose wisely.
