When you scratch beneath the surface of your average kid flick, you'll often find one of about five or six different bromides that all kid oriented films adhere to: The importance of family, the importance of being yourself, the importance of relying on others, the importance of letting go, and on and on. What made last Spring's smash hit The Boss Baby such an anomaly, however, is that it had none of this. No, when you scratched beneath the surface of this absolutely bonkers movie, it was just a bunch of movie executives pointing at you and laughing at how much money they'd just bilked you out of.
Thankfully, the good folks over at Screen Junkies have put together another Honest Trailer for us, and it almost ends up breaking them. There's so much sinister stuff in this film, it's difficult to explain it to someone who hasn't seen it. I took my daughters to see it and while they enjoyed it, I was mostly horrified by all of the unexplained rules to which the world of the film adhered. They go into a lot of this in the Honest Trailer, but if you want a more thorough analysis of the horrors in this film, I would recommend checking out this week's episode of We Hate Movies wherein they deconstruct the many bizarre and horrible implications of this film.
