That ‘Turok 2’ Remaster Is Still A Thing That’s Happening

  Somehow, the gaming industry has gotten itself ass-backwards. We’re supposed to barrelling forwards into a brave new era of VR gaming and Xbox Scorpio and all of that BS, not looking back. Screw the past. It’s in the past because that’s where it belongs. 

Oftentimes these days, though, game devs will find that they just can’t damn well come up with anything better than what came before. The good old days can be too freaking good. And what happens then? Yet another effing HD remaster/remake/re-release, that’s what.

All we can really do is hope that it’s something we’re actually assed about. The Turok games, for instance. These early FPS titles were the first to let us rip giant lizards inside out with terrifying futuristic weapons as a time-travelling dinosaur hunter, and that’s something to appreciate right there. Nightdive have already released their HDification of the first in the series, and now they’re here to promise that Turok 2: Seeds of Evil is on the way as well.

There was some doubt, y’see, as we haven’t heard much of anything and the studio has been caught up in other stuff. Fear not, though, Turok fans. As Destructoid reports, the team’s Daniel Grayshon is on hand to drop some reassurance:

"As many of you may have guessed, working on the rights to these classic titles can be tricky and sometimes contractual obligations prevents the transparency we've enjoyed on some of our other titles which is why updates have been mysteriously absent… We're well aware of the demand for Turok 2 and it is still in development. In fact, we started development just shortly after the launch of the first Turok. Turok 2 is a bigger game, more enemies, more weapons, more locations and most importantly...Turok 2 had Multiplayer.”

"In our quest to bring you the most authentic experience at the highest quality level available, we've decided to give Turok 2 the love it deserves and release the game 'when it's done' which is why all we've been able to say is this: Turok 2 is coming!”

So there it is. As far as an ETA goes, that’s right about in the ‘some time before the Martians arrive and try to enslave our asses War of the Worlds style’ region. Still, it is coming, and that’ll do for now.
