‘Terminator Genisys’ Offers In-Theater Video Game During Screenings, and It’s Freaking Crazy

What can I say about Terminator Genisys that hasn't already been said? That's a difficult one. I think I'll just go with 'barrel of wank' and have done with it. Plain ol' sucking ass aside, completely spoiling the one interesting plot point in a trailer? Good job there, Genisys.

But hell, it's a spectacle. The glory days of Terminator 2: Judgment Day are long gone now, and Arnold's looking a little long in the tooth for this sort of thing now, but we'll forgive all kinds of evils just for that 'Terminator' in the title there. Take what you can get, I guess.

So, hell. While you're in the theater (against your will or otherwise), Genisys has a little extra bonus for you. If you're in one of a grand total of five different venues across the country, and watching in IMAX, that is. Fancy some in-theater terminator-bustin' action with your fellow movie watchers?

Destructoid, fresh from a pre-screening game at Paramount, bring us the skinny:

‘...you take your smartphone, you connect to a special Wi-Fi signal at the theater, and that automatically connects you to the game. The audience is broken up into four teams, represented by four Resistance soldiers. Some Terminators show up and you shoot them with the 'fire' button.'

It's all a little befuddling and really freaking stupid, much like the movie itself. Still, ‘...it wasn't that bad of an experience' is high praise indeed, and it's a cool little novelty if nothing else. Hit the link for more on the game and where you can play for yourself.
