TV & FILM

It's been 84 days since Thor: Ragnarok was released, leaving us with a terrible case of MCU withdrawal. Thankfully, three weeks from today that drought ends with the release of Black Panther, the first MCU movie set in Africa with a black protagonist and antagonist. The film is poised to do amazing business, and the best news of all is that it looks pretty badass as we see in this new TV spot that shows of lots of new footage.
While we don't get any more insight into his motivation, we at least know what Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) is after in this flick: Wakanda's rich deposits of Vibranium, which power T'Challa's (Chadwick Boseman) land thanks to its advanced technological properties. More and more, I'm beginning to think that the film's climax will take place in the Vibranium mines that have been teased in the last few advertisements.
I also worry that Black Panther could suffer a bit from feeling like an Infinity War prequel rather than its own thing. There's still a lot of set-up to come for Thanos and his plans for earth, and I feel like they're gonna be spending some time setting that stuff up in this flick. Either way, I'm excited to see Black Panther when it opens on February 16.
