Terminator 2: Judgment Day is set to return to theaters this weekend in a newly remastered 3D version that's sure to be the best thing showing on any given screen at your local multiplex. This is in anticipation of a 4K Blu-ray release this fall which is going to include a brand new, feature length documentary about the making of the film and its impact on both action cinema and special effects.
This new promo for the October 3 release features a few minutes of footage from that doc where both director James Cameron and star Arnold Schwarzenegger talk about the film. A particularly interesting tidbit is when Arnold—who now looks uncannily like someone's lesbian grandmother—recounts his hilarious reaction to finding out that his T-800 would be a good guy in the sequel, despite having been the titular villain in the first go-around. It's vintage stuff from the man who coined the term "eating isn't cheating."
I must admit that even though I've seen T2 a hundred times, the footage from the film in this featurette looks absolutely spectacular cleaned up and remastered in 4K. I know I'll be there to see it in 3D this weekend... how about the rest of you? Are you excited to see one of the greatest genre sequels of all time on the big screen again?
