Assuming you're one of the 20 million people who already watched The Dark Knight Rises in theaters, you might be left wondering about the future of the movie franchise. Christopher Nolan definitely had a good run with his Batman trilogy that starred Christian Bale as Gotham City's caped crusader.
Nolan did a great job with how he wrapped up The Dark Knight Rises, because it opened up a whole new wave of possibilities for the future. Now that the series has finally and officially come to an end, one has to wonder where the Batman franchise is headed--and as you can see below, we've definitely got some big ideas.
1. A Batman reboot. There's no denying the fact that the Batman franchise has done immensely well at the Box Office. Warner Bros. will obviously want to visit it sometime in the future to milk it for all its worth. Nolan's trilogy was probably as good as the movies will ever get, so let's hope they bring in a good cast and crew on board to spearhead the reboot--when the time comes.
2. A Robin spin-off. At the end of The Dark Knight Rises, it is revealed that hot-shot cop John Blake (full name Robin John Blake) inherits a duffel bag from Bruce Wayne containing directions to the Batcave. Blake finds it easily and swings through a curtain of water to find himself in Batman's cave of wonders. This scene sets the stage perfect for a Robin spin-off.
3. Robin becomes Batman. On the other hand, Robin can just wear Batman's mask and become Gotham's next Batman instead. Seeing as the Bat Signal's already all fixed and Robin's got an arsenal of bat-themed gizmos and gadgets on hand, it might be easier to continue Batman's legacy--as himself.
4. A new Batman and Robin movie. We see Robin and Batman alive and well as The Dark Knight Rises drew to an end. Having the tandem actually make a return back on-screen is a huge possibility--and definitely something I'd want to see.
5. Batman vs. Superman. We got incredibly close to this movie almost a decade ago. There was a script. Wolfgang Petersen was attached to direct. The parts were cast. And then...Nada. But with The Avengers raking up a Scrooge McDuck-sized sylo of cash, it's only a matter of time for a Justice League-style team-up to enter development.
6. Batman Beyond. We've seen Batman's origins, we've seen his life and we've seen his end. Now is it time to see his future? Batman Beyond was a popular spinoff to the Animated Series, it gave us an elderly Bruce Wayne and a new upstart to take over the cape and cowl in the near-future. Is it time to have a Batman of the future grace our screen? Before Batman Begins even hit screens, Warner Bros. was considering Beyond as a potential reboot following Batmand and Robin.
