TV & FILM

Spider-Man lives in New York City, so it would make sense that he might run into a celebrity or two while picking something up at the bodega. This new TV spot for the film which aired during last night's NBA Finals Game 3 presupposes just that when the friendly neighborhood webslinger runs into DJ Khaled while trying to buy snacks for Tony Stark.
I love the notion of Stark treating a fellow super as an errand boy, as it really shows off what a supremely dickish character Stark has become. Not that he wasn't always a jerk, just that it's really gone to superhuman heights over the course of the last few MCU adventures. I doubt this will end up in the movie proper, but it wouldn't surprise me if they're looking to make DJ Khaled part of the MCU. Heck, he could play Prodigy, though that character may be mixed up in the Fox Mutant Universe.
Tangents aside, it's nice to see advertisements for films that don't necessarily involve footage from the film. Helps keep spoilers at bay. Maybe more movies should start doing this kind of thing. I'd be a lot more inclined to go see Justice League if there were a commercial for the film where they all go to Costco and just shop. Heck, I'd be more inclined to go see Justice League if that were the entire movie. Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters July 7.
