Sorry Kanye, You’re Not Famous Enough For ‘No Man’s Sky’

Over here in the gaming world, No Man’s Sky has been a big freaking deal of late. Well, relatively. It doesn’t have the big ol’ balls and cachet that the likes of Doom, Uncharted 4, Call of Duty and such have been throwing around recently, but gamers in the know have been watching this one damn closely.

This indie survival adventure is set in space, within an open universe of over 18 quintillion planets. That, as any mathematician will tell you, is a huge effing number right there. This is an ambitious one, and its exploration/trade/combat-based gameplay is something lots of us want to get a slice of.

But the thing about the rest of us is, we’re not effing Kanye West. The creator of No Man’s Sky spoke to IGN recently, about the game and its potential. More important, about giving Yeezus the middle finger at a trade show. Now that’s something we can all get on board with.

Last E3, the raptastic craptastic was cruising about the show floor, jumping lines to try games out, scowling like a bastard for photographs and generally feeling much more important than he and his questionable beard have any right to really be. In short, y’know, doing the whole Kanye thing. But however much ‘tude you have, there are limits to your power. The College Dropout college dropout didn’t get to try out No Man’s Sky, as developer Sean Murray told IGN Unfiltered:

"Kanye was at E3 that year and we got a message that he wanted to see the game and we weren’t actually on the show floor at E3," he said. "So we were like, 'We’re not on the show floor and we’ve got Elon Musk to meet and Steven Spielberg so we can’t take that Kanye meeting,'" Murray added, laughing. "It was one of my favorite things. So yeah, that was a weird day... This game has put me in one weird situation after another."

So there it is. How does it feel to be a nobody like the rest of us, Yeezus?
