You knew is was going to happen. The only question was how long it would take. And, as it turns out, the answer to that question is six days. According to Variety, today the SyFy network has given the green light to Sharknado 2, making official the most highly anticipated sequel since Red 2.
Nah, I'm just kidding. Nobody has been anticipating Red 2. But they are making Sharknado 2. The follow up to the B-movie masterpiece that took Twitter by storm last Thursday might be a sequel or—and this is going to blow your mind—according to VP of programming Thomas Vitale, it might be a prequel. Either way it will debut on SyFy next year, and this time the Big Apple will be center of all the sharknadic activity.
So that pretty much just made your day, right? Well wait. It gets better. In what might just be the smartest marketing move in the history of Television, SyFy is capitalizing on the huge SharknadoTwitter-splosion by giving fans an opportunity to create the subtitle for Sharknado 2. All you have to do it tweet your idea to @SyfyMovies using the hashtag #Sharknado, and if they like it they'll use it.
So stop looking at babes for a few minutes and put your thinking caps on, people. This is your chance to make a significant contribution to American culture. Don't let it pass you by!
