Fans of Shadow of the Colossus will be happy to hear that Sony Pictures is gaining traction to get its adaptation to the big screen. The movie has been in development for quite a while now, having been announced three years ago, back in 2009.
Sony has announced that it has signed Josh Trank to direct the film. Trank recently made his feature debut with Chronicle earlier this year, and has a busy schedule ahead of him: he's slated to direct the Spider-Man spinoff Venom and is also attached to Warner Brothers' comic adaptation, The Red Star.
Justin Marks was attached to the Shadow of the Colossus project early on, but it seems like Sony wants to start from scratch and has issued a new call for writers for the film.
The video game Colossus was released by Sony Entertainment back in 2005, which followed the story of a man named Wander. In the game's storyline, Wander must travel across a cursed wasteland and defeat 16 creatures, which are known as the colossi, in order to restore a girl's life.
There's no word yet on the release date or any headlining actors or actresses for the movie, but you can expect a lot of horror and sci-fi action for sure.
