I hate when celebrities get political by taking up controversial causes, and WE Charity may just be the most controversial of them all. For those of you not aware, WE Charity is a children’s charity that seeks to advocate for human rights, active citizenship, and the empowerment of the youth around the world.

I do not know where to begin in explaining how wrong that all is.

Advocating for human rights is bad enough. We can’t have people thinking they have any sort of protection surrounding them, or people looking out for them. Those pie in the sky dreams will do nothing but hurt government corruption around the world.

And active citizenship! Of our youth? Is that a joke? I don’t need any more people than I already have coming to my door, asking me to sign a petition or, God forbid, vote. I’m more of a go with the flow and complain about where it is heading kind of guy. Asking me to get involved and teaching children that it is a good thing is a corruption of our society in the worst possible way.

Then there is the empowerment of our youth. How are we supposed to get our lawns mowed, or our leaves raked by the neighbor kid for fifteen dollars if he is told that he is worth more? It used to be that kids were the equivalent of illegal labor, without it being illegal.

How this charity has not made it onto the Southern Poverty Law Center’s list of extremist groups baffles me. They need to step their game up.
