I'm not going to lie, I love Kiss. I once drove five hours to Dallas to see them in concert with my friend Johnny only to turn around and drive back after the concert. That's when I was young and the promise of flaming guitars and kabuki make-up was enough to entice my to a long journey. It's not that their music is particuarly that good and Lord knows it's not their personalities. There is just something about four old Jewish guys from New York wearing leather bondage gear and make-up that is worth the price of admission. I even watched their horrifically terrible film Kiss And The Phantom Of The Park, where the boys thwart and evil scientist at an amusement park that wants to turn everyone into audio animatronic figures. They are returning to these roots with an adventure with Scooby-Doo called Scooby-Doo and KISS: Rock and Roll Mystery. And the first song for it...is amazing.
And by amazing I mean truly terrible. No shredding guitars here, just a jaunty tune called Don't Touch My Ascot. It's about an ascot that belongs to the members of Kiss and how they don't want anyone to touch it. This is going to be the greatest cartoon ever. I smell best a Best Animated Feature Oscar.
