TV & FILM
bill-swift - August 29, 2013
Last week it was announced that NBC was working on a TV adaptation of the 1994 hit movie Reality Bites. Now the execs over at the ScyFy Network have announced a mid-90s film adaptation of their own. And that film-turned-television series is 12 Monkeys.
Now, I do not have any inside information as to how this decision was made. But here's how it all went down in my head:
'What's that? TV shows based on movies from the mid-90s no one has watched in a decade? Is that what everybody is doing now? Well fine, we're making a TV show out of 12 Monkeys. Get those idiots who wrote Terra Nova to write the pilot.'
Oh? Didn't I mention is already? Yeah, according to Deadline, the guys behind the ridiculously terrible Terra Nova, Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett, have written the pilot for 12 Monkeys. So there's a pretty good chance that the 12 Monkeys TV series is going to suck.
I certainly hope I'm wrong, though. (If I am, I'll be the first to happily admit it.) The original Terry Gilliam film starring Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt is, in by book, a true science fiction classic.
