Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has been ordered by Disney to go back and do 4-6 weeks of expensive shooting. It seems that it isn't testing very well. The execs really didn't like it. Apparently, it's really off in tonality from the original Star Wars movies. It seems that director Gareth Edwards made it hella dark and The Mouse isn't having it. The reshoots are meant to lighten the mood and add a little levity. One of the things that the prequel films got wrong was how serious it took itself. What worked so well about The Force Awakens was that they got the right combination of humor and fun as the originals. There is a tendency nowadays to make movies darker and more serious. Look at all of the ultra-dark superhero movies, especially the dumpster fire of a movie Batman V. Superman.
This concerns me as a Star Wars fan. 4-6 weeks of reshoots is a lot seeing as that usually when there are reshoots they only take a few days, a couple of weeks at most. Not to mention the fact that it's going to cost Disney a fortune to reshoot a Star Wars movie. If they are willing to make the investment, the movie must really suck Wookiee balls.
