In golf, the ultimate is prize is the Green Jacket for winning The Masters. Well, move over Green Jacket, because tennis superstar Roger Federer just won a whole suit. And not just any suit, a Men in Black suit presented by none other than Will Smith himself.
I'm guessing this won't become a tradition unlike any other, since the bizarre gift was a promotion for Men In Black 3, but it really does open a whole new can of worms when it comes to marketing and cross promotion. Where will it end?
Look, I get it, Smith is trying to promote his movie around the globe, and obviously it's working. It's not like I was wrapping up my analysis of Federer's win in Madrid and stumbled across this picture. The only way this tournament would get mentioned here was if Will Smith showed up to hand out a suit to the winner. You win, Smith!
Don't all pros one day dream of being awarded such a trophy? Forget Wimbledon or the U.S. Open, it's all about the MIB suit, baby. And I do want to commend Roger for being gracious about it, because you have to wonder if he was not thrilled about being pulled into the marketing campaign for the movie by winning a tournament.
Hey, there's even video!
