New England Patriots owner Robert Kraftthinks the NFL should have a team in London. Kraft wants the National Football League should expand to England. I get that they want to have a global brand, but having a team in England is a terrible idea.
First of all, logistics. For East Coast teams, the trip might not be a nightmare, but for anyone west of the Mississippi it would be. Secondly, you're asking a lot of people to move to another country for most of the year.
It just doesn't make sense to me at all. The teams that have played in England the last few years for a regular season game have had a bye the following week. I suppose the schedule makers could still figure it out, maybe, but in a 17 week season, it wouldn't always work out and some teams might not get a bye after traveling either direction.
And lastly, it kind of ruins the National part of of the NFL name. I get that we have teams in Toronto in both the NBA and MLB, but that's not really a travel nightmare. So no, sorry England and everyone in the U.K., having a permanent NFL team there is a bad idea. So that means it'll probably happen within the ten years Kraft hopes it will.
