War is a deadly thing, especially when talking about the war of the consoles. Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft battle it out year after year to see who will reign supreme. As mere mortals caught in the crossfire of these entertainment titans, we have no choice but to pick sides and watch as the battle plays out.
Sometimes Sony is on top, sometimes Microsoft and SOMETIMES even Nintendo and the black sheep PC stands above the rest, laughing at their enemy's failures. For the record, I chose long ago to side with Sony's Playstation 3. I mention Sony's newest console specifically because back in the good ol' days, there were no sides and this war was more of a schoolyard brawl. Regardless, Sony has been my preferred system and I stand by that belief. For a war to last this long, the sides must be near equals. Their battles are a constant back and forth like a tug-o-war that ceases to end.
One of the biggest games of 2011/2012 was/is Skyrim. It always stings when a rival console gets an exclusive title that really gets a lot of attention but, luckily for the gaming community, Skyrim wasn't one of those. Unfortunately, the tale does end on a sad note as PS3 users have had the shit end of the stick throughout their tiresome journey through the land of Skyrim, with a glitch-ridden PS3 version of the game and now a large delay in the first DLC expansion.
Microsoft's Xbox 360 had a deal for a 30-day exclusivity to Skyrim's first DLC 'Dawnguard', which came out June 26.
Wait, that's 30 days ago today! That means Dawnguard is now coming to the other consoles right?
No, Little Billy, I'm sorry but Bethesda does not want to feed our hunger just yet. Bethesda has confirmed that Skyrim's 1.7 update required before downloading Dawnguard won't be coming to PS3 for weeks to come. There is hope for PC users though, as the 1.7 update has been released (in beta form) on Steam.
It's a dark and dreary world out there sometimes but I have to keep hope alive and know that we'll be seeing Dawnguard sometime in the near future. You win this time Microsoft but just remember...
War...war never changes...
