Last week, we saw a good lil' slice of PRtastic from Xbox. You remember, all that business about 2016 being the year of Xbox One, a lineup to blow your scrote right off, all of that stuff. They even busted out the hackneyed old line there's never been a better time to own a (name of console in question), so you know they're not playing around right here.
Sony weren't going to stand for that kind of talk, natch. Them's fightin' words. Two can play at that game. If there's corporate wang-waving going on, then you can bet that the PlayStation wang is… going to be waved too. Or something.
Who kicked ass this past Black Friday? Sony did, that's who, and you're damn right they're going to tell you about it.
‘We've just seen the most successful Black Friday in the company's history,' SCE President Andrew House told the Financial Times. ‘We are now trying to benchmark against the success of the PlayStation 2—or exceed it if possible.'
He didn't give any specific sales figures, but that's a hell of an ambition. After all, PS2 is the best-selling console ever made, having shifted over 150 million in its lifetime. House is ‘hesitant to predict' that PS4 will overtake it, but where's the harm in a little optimism?
