There aren't many sad eyes around Egotastic HQ today as the news of Playstation 2's demise in Japan sinks in. Here's the Famitsu story describing the end of the PS2's production run but you shouldn't go there unless you read Japanese fluently. We do not read Japanese fluently but we know that after 150 million units sold, beginning in March of 2000, the Playstation 2 left it's mark on the world. The success of the original Playstation --that lovable, modifiable, side-standing little grey box with pixelly good graphics-- emboldened Sony to try some amazing things in hardware, marketing and business practices with the Playstation 2 because everybody, EVERYBODY, knew it was going to be a hit. It's 2013 and Playstation 2 is the best selling home videogame console of all time. (Nintendo's various handhelds with their endless name changes, tweaks and upgrades might lay claim to best selling console period, but that depends on your generosity in interpreting the English language).

In the gallery above you'll find the Top 10 Things Playstation 2 has given us.
