SUPEREGO

After watching Terrell Owens get signed by the Seattle Seahawks earlier this week, Plaxico Burress has to be wondering when in the world someone is going to call him. True, he does not have the resume that Owens does, but he's younger and isn't coming back from a major knee injury.
Now he was absent from the game for two years while serving time on a weapons related charge, but his play for the New York Jets season showed that while he isn't a spring chicken anymore the man can still play. So why isn't anyone calling him?
Maybe--just maybe--its because Plax is being a little greedy and overconfident?
I'm not one to put words in anyone's mouth and I certainly don't have Plax's phone number, but a recent comment of his shows that he has more than enough swagger:
With some of the things I was able to do after being away for two years, I pretty much thought it spoke for itself.
For the man to be this confident after catching just 45 balls for 612 yards and 8 TDs for the Jets last season he's got so much swagger that 'The Situation' is envious. While his overconfidence could rub some of his teammates the wrong way as long as he's producing they'll put up with it. It's been rumored that his problem is money.
According to some reports, Plax has been demanding more money than anyone wants to pay. Rumor has it that the Pittsburgh Steelers may be interested, but they don't want to pay his price, but that could change. Should Mike Wallace continue his holdout the team will be in need of a veteran wideout. Who better than someone that the team's QB is already familiar with?
With a close to a $60,000 tax bill from 2007 still due, it is a little surprising that someone that doesn't have a job would be setting the bar too high when it comes to pay. As the preseason continues and injuries pile up around the league it will be interesting to see who bends first, Plaxico or whomever comes calling.
