Pixar has become the most reliable film production company in the world. So the news that they have a plethora of future projects in development should be met with howls of joy and acclaim. The good people at The Playlist website have announced the titles of these pieces as Monster University, The Good Dinosaur, Dia Del Muertos and The Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside The Mind, each of which promises to be magnificent.
The Good Dinosaur will be directed by Bob Peterson who voiced the talking dog Dug in Up as well as directing the feature too. At the event it was released that the film will ask the question "What if the cataclysmic asteroid that forever changed life on Earth actually missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?" And promises to arrive on 30 May 2014.
The Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside The Mind is to be directed by Peter Docter, he of Monsters Inc. and Up fame, and the company claim that "Pixar takes audiences on incredible journeys into extraordinary worlds. From the darkest depths of the ocean to the top of the tepui mountains in South America, from the fictional metropolis of Mostropolis to a futuristic fantasy of outer space." I'm perplexed but trust to the company to deliver something special on 19 June 2015.
Dia Del Muertos will be approached by the Toy Story 3 production team of Lee Unkrich and Darla K. Anderson and is a Mexican themed adventure based around a vibrant holiday.
And oh yeah, Monster's University will continue the adventures of Sully and Mike with a teaser trailer promised soon.
In an age of endless sequels and tepid superhero movies, at least Pixar give us cinephiles something to be grateful for.
