Although it has supposedly been playing theatrically since November 1, you likely haven't had a chance to see The Irishman yet, unless you live in a big city with an independent theater. Never fear however, as Martin Scorsese's three and a half hour epic is coming to Netflix next week and the streaming service has released one final trailer for the flick to get you pumped going into the holiday week.
While Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci individually haven't made a great movie in decades, there's something about seeing all three of them together in the same shot that excites the movie nerd in us all. Granted that creepy cgi youth-inization is particularly distracting, especially on De Niro, but such is the state of filmmaking in 2019.
I suppose, if nothing else, that at least Netflix will enable those of us with weak bladders to not have to miss anything over the course of the 202 minute film. At the same time, I can't help but feel that unless I force myself into a movie theater, I won't actually watch the whole thing. So thank you, Netflix, for causing a world class catch-22 for filmgoers the world over. The Irishman finally hits the streaming service one week from today on November 27.
