It's no secret that Ninja Gaiden 3 would be making the jump to the Wii U. Being that the series has made the jump to Nintendo before, it comes as no surprise that Tecmo's Team Ninja would dive in head first and attempt to make use of the upcoming Wii U's unique features. Ninja Gaiden also has a history releasing updated version of their already released games. That being said, Nintendo has confirmed the release date and exclusive content coming to Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge.
Ninja Gaiden 3 follows the story of Ryu Hayabusa as he struggles against time to find a cure for a curse that's slowly destroying him. As an updated version of Ninja Gaiden 3, which released earlier this year, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge will make use of the the Wii U's capabilities with updated graphics, paired with 1080p capability. It will also feature more usable weapons than the original, including:
Upon it's release, Ninja Gaiden 3 received mixed reviews, with many fans complaining of a lack of weapon variety. It's nice to see that Tecmo is looking to appeal to the fans with this one. On top of new ways to kill your enemies, Razor's Edge will feature the ability to carry up to three Ninpo at a time, as opposed to just one, as well as the restored ability to dismember enemies during combat. It may seem strange but Ninja Gaiden just wouldn't be the same without the extreme level of gore the series is renowned for.
By far the largest addition to the Razor's Edge version would have to be the inclusion of an all new playable character, Ayane. Originally appearing for a brief moment in the original, Ayane will become a main character that players can use through a special set of missions that include new weapons and Ninpo powers. Everything from new moves to new costumes will be included as unlockable content in Ninja Gaiden 3's Wii U version, with more playable characters confirmed to be available after the game's release as DLC.
Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge is set to hit store shelves for $59.99 on January 11, 2013 for Wii U.
