Anyone who grew up on the old Hanna Barbera cartoon adventure series of the 70s and 80s is a built-in fan for Adult Swim's The Venture Brothers. The show's sixth season ended way back in March 2016, which was basically a whole 'nother America ago, so it feels like it's been forever since we've seen Hank, Dean, and all the rest of the gang in action.
Never fear, true believers, as the show is guaranteed at least two more seasons, with the seventh season beginning its run on Cartoon Network on August 5. Writer, creator, and star of the show, Christopher McCulloch, is back with ten brand new episodes that will expand upon the supernatural adventures of the titular squad.
If you're not familiar with the show, it follows the exploits of a former child genius, Dr. Rusty Venture, and his tremendously stupid sons Hank and Dean, and their even stupider bodyguard, Brock Samson, as they fight all manner of evil. You can catch up with the show's best moments in the video below.
For my money, it ranks alongside Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2021, and Metalocalypse as one of the best animated Adult Swim shows ever produced. It's a very specific parody of a very specific genre of cartoon, but it's also among the more brilliant things you'll see on TV.
So set your DVRs for August 5 at midnight EST when The Venture Brothers finally returns!
