While the reaction to the latest Marvel Netflix series Iron Fist was mixed at best, there's no denying that they've given us some top notch entertainment over the last three years. Now, at long last, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist are teaming up for Marvel's The Defenders, their small screen equivalent of The Avengers.
This amazing first trailer for the series gives us little hints at how the team comes together before introducing Sigourney Weaver's big baddie. Then it's an avalanche of amazing action, including appearances by all of your favorite side characters from Netflix's various Marvel series: Elodie Yung's Elektra, Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple, Simone Missick's Misty Knight, Jessica Henwick's Colleen Wing, and of course, Scott Glenn's Stick who tells the team, "The war for New York is here... So get your sh*t together!" Add in a funkified version of Nirvana's "Come As You Are," and it adds up to two minutes of pure bliss for comic book geeks.
While they're still being cagey about whether or not these characters will ever team up with the big screen Marvel characters from the MCU, it's looking pretty undeniable that they'll be able to hold their own even if that never comes to fruition. The first season of Netflix's Marvel's The Defenders—which will arguably be the television event of the summer—debuts in its entirety on August 18.
