‘Mother Russia Bleeds’ Is A Super-Violent Old School Brawler, And You’ll Dig It

  Back in the day, when my lifelong boner for video games began, things were much simpler. There was no convoluted plotting to get confused by, no huge-ass open world to get lost in, no on-disk DLC or season passes to bitch about. It was all about good ol’ fashioned simple arcade fun, just like mama used to make.  

2D scrolling beat ‘em ups were a favorite for a lot of us. You can’t argue with the badassery of timeless classics like Golden Ax and Streets of Rage. The thing about these games is, they didn’t eff around. You got a quick cutscene or dialog window to explain why you’re beating the shit out of everyone, and then you were away, beating the shit out of everyone. A good time was had by all.

Sometimes, that’s all you really need. 100+ hour RPGs with character development-amundo have their place, but so does good ol’ fashioned pick up and play violence. You don’t see much from the genre these days, so retro heads are sure to appreciate the upcoming Mother Russia Bleeds.

Cross Streets of Rage with the uber violence of Doom, and this is what you’d get. A scrolling brawler set in an alternate universe Soviet Russia, with some sexy pixel art and a side of crushing dudes into bloody chunks with a fire extinguisher. That’s an offer you can’t refuse, right there. You know you want a piece of this.
