Those who recently purchased the Playstation Vita are in for a treat today as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios have officially confirmed that Mortal Kombat will arrive on Sony's newest handheld May 1, 2012 in North America and May 4, 2012 for those of us in the UK.

The game will feature a new 'Challenge Tower Mode' with over 150 new missions, touchscreen fatalities, X-rays and much more.

The touchscreen fatalities is really the most appealing aspect to a Vita version of the Mortal Kombat series in my eyes. I'm still willing to bet, however, that they'll still manage to be just as complicated to perform as they are in button combo form and will probably cause me to sprain my fingers multiple times.

What do you think? Does Mortal Kombat push you further to getting a Vita or do you still think it's a console that's bound to fail in time?
