TV & FILM
bill-swift - September 28, 2013
The proposed film based on the life of children's television pioneer Fred Rogers has found its director. Actually, it's found two. Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, the married couple behind Little Miss Sunshine, are set to adapt I'm Proud of You, a memoir chronicling the friendship between journalist Tim Madigan and the beloved icon.
The film will be financed by Peter Saraf and Marc Turtletaub's Big Beach Films, as well as support from viewers like you (if they do a Kickstarter). No word yet on whether the film will feature cameos from King Friday, Queen Sara, or X the Owl. And let's not rule out a pop in from Mr. McFeely (a.k.a. David Newell).
This is usually the point in the article where I attempt to force a snarky joke, but to hell with that. I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I make fun or Mr. Rogers.
See you at the crossroads, Fred. Mourn you 'til I join you. (Source)
